Tank Inspection and Repair


Our staff is certified / accredited to perform aboveground storage tank (AST) inspections by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Steel Tank Institute (STI). Our staff is also certified to perform piping inspections as API-570 Piping Inspector. Standards to which we perform AST inspections include API-653 and SP-001. Our staff are also certified under ASNT-TC-1A to perform all non-destructive testing methods used to conduct AST Inspections. The methods include Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Visual Testing (VT) and Vacuum Box Testing (VB). In addition, our personnel self-perform plumbness, roundness, break-over, peaking/banding measurements and 3-D scanning of ASTs to meet customer needs. Our reports are authored and signed by a certified AST Inspector and Registered Professional Engineer.

Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP)
Tank Inspection

TSP is the Great Lakes regional licensee of UT Comp who holds numerous patents for inspection of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP)
tanks. Our staff has been trained by UT Comp Engineers to perform ultrasonic thickness (UT) testing and flaw detection of fiberglass tanks utilizing UltraAnalytix™. All of our non-destructive testing (NDT) technicians are certified to ASNT-TC-1A to Level I or II. Our NDT inspection program is annually evaluated and updated by a third-party Level III to insure compliance and eliminate the potential for conflict of interest. In addition to fiberglass ASTs, piping and equipment inspection, TSP also performs integrity testing of plastic ASTs, including high density polyethylene (HDPE) tanks. Methods include visual testing (VT), dye penetrant (PT) and ultrasonic thickness testing (UT) of Plastic tanks.
